The Southwest Rocks vineyard was established in 1995 and named after the geographic location on the property where explosives were used to shatter the reef, enabling planting and trellising. The shiraz clone was sourced from the original Best’s 1860’s vineyard, Great Western, Victoria. Matured for 18 months in French oak barriques.

Colour: Very dark purple-black, shiny and bright.

Bouquet: eberry and violet nose with a cold mineral and flint perfume. Some vanillin spice is also evident.

Palate: Explosive sherbet acidity. Lean and tight dark fruit profile, Stalky tannin texture with an exceptionally long finish.

Winemaker’s comments: This is the 4th release of this ‘Pinot’ tasting Shiraz. The wine is very exotic with its mandarin fruit and Chinese five spice notes.
